  • Bike to Work Day
    • Mayor Parker has declared Friday, April 12, 2013 as Bike to Work Day to encourage riders to choose pedal power for their daily commute to work and to raise awareness of the City’s bikeway network. Organized Bike to Work rides will depart from seven locations around town and end at City Hall for a brief presentation with Mayor Parker, Public Works Director Dan Krueger and members of the biking community.

  • Lights Out Houston
    • The “Energy Capital of the World” will continue its sustained commitment to become the “Energy Conservation Capital” by turning off the lights on April 25, 2013. LightsOut Houston started in 2008 as a city-wide commitment to energy efficiency by commercial building owners and their tenants. The goal of the program has expanded to establish a sustained reduction in the use of non-essential electricity by all buildings throughout the Greater Houston area. Participants are asked to sign a pledge of their commitment to energy conservation.

  • Earth Day Houston
    • Earth Day Houston, developed by Air Alliance Houston, is the Houston area’s premier celebration of our planet at Discovery Green.  The FREE one-day celebration will focus on the merits of mindful, sustainable living while educating and encouraging Houstonians to do their part to preserve, conserve and enhance our city and the Earth.  Earth Day Houston showcases more than 30 green non-profits, each educating visitors on how they can make Houston greener.
